Monday Beginning/Bell Ringer: Students will practice bell work procedures. Guided Instruction (Teacher and students do the work): Students will look at “garbage” and make inferences about the people who threw the items away. Students will practice making justifications for their responses. Collaborative Learning (Students do the work together): Students will use inferential thinking to solve riddles. Independent Practice (Students do the work alone): Students will take a CFA over their first Target which calls for them to be able to successfully make an inference from a text. Activity: PEP RALLY DAY

Tuesday Beginning/Bell Ringer: Students will begin bell work over sentence types. Focused Instruction (Teacher does the work): The teacher will brief students on Target 2 which calls for students to be able to SUPPORT their inferences with evidence from the text. The teacher will again model note taking for students. Guided Instruction (Teacher and students do the work): The teacher will work with the class on an informational text and questions. The class will read through the text and answer a series of questions. We will then discuss the evidence from the text that can be used to justify our answers. Collaborative Learning (Students do the work together): Students will work with their table groups to read a literary text and repeat the same process as above. Students will be expected to work with their peers to correctly answer the questions AND provide appropriate textual evidence found from the text. Independent Practice (Students do the work alone): Students will take a CFA over their second Target which calls for them to SUPPORT their inferences with evidence from the text. Thursday Beginning/Bell Ringer: Students will begin bell work over sentence types. Focused Instruction (Teacher does the work): The teacher will begin discussing Target 3 which calls for students to cite evidence using evidence based terms. For today the teacher will simply work through examples and model for students how to complete their responses with the correct academic language. Independent Practice (Students do the work alone): Students will take the Reading Inventory test. This is an untimed test that will gage the Lexile level at which each student is reading. This score determines whether or not the student is reading at grade level. The students that are below grade level will be placed in a reading program called Read180. This will take place during the regular school day and will take the place of an elective. Friday Beginning/Bell Ringer: Students will begin bell work over sentence types.
